Are you the Invisible?

Congratulations! You are a top performer. Because of your innovative ideas, the team leads the nation, and superiors receive accolades. What a grand opportunity to see your talents at work with results. However, no one beyond your superior is aware because the specific intel about what contributions drove those numbers on the wall never circulated beyond this department. Oh no! You’re invisible!

If you want more out of your career, ask your superior how your contributions enabled the bottom line. What are the metrics? Use internal intranets to socialize and acknowledge contributions on an enterprise-wide internal network. Be sure also to recognize your manager or director’s leadership as well. “Great managers…are great talent agents.” (Chamorro-Prepubic, T, and Kirschner, J, 2020)

Think About

1. Are you taking the initiative to explore projects for increased visibility?

2. During the next 1-on-1 meeting, can you outline an internal networking strategy that benefits the company and delivers long-term career goals?

If you exceed performance, discuss goals with your superior, and remain invisible to the enterprise, we can discuss your career growth and profitability goals during a future post. Did you enjoy this consideration? Remember to pay it forward by sharing it with your network.
